EcoFlow Delta 3 Review — 54-Minute Recharge, 870 Measured Watt-Hours, and Room to Grow

The quickest 1 kWh unit to fill and the only one that grows. It is also the least efficient of the four, which is the trade you are making.

The Delta 3 is the flexible one. It refills in under an hour, it expands to 5 kWh when you outgrow it, and it switches over fast enough to keep a desktop alive. What it does not do is give back as much of its rating as its rivals.

EcoFlow currently sells the Delta 3, the Delta 3 Classic and the Delta 3 Plus, all rated 1,024 Wh and all easy to mistake for each other. They differ in solar input, port count, expandability and price — the Classic is not expandable at all, and the Plus takes 1,000 W of solar against the plain Delta 3's 500 W.[1][2] This review covers the plain Delta 3. Check the exact model before you buy.

What the measurement says

That is the lowest of the four measured 1 kWh units. The Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 and Bluetti Elite 100 V2, both rated identically at 1,024 Wh, each delivered 890 Wh.[4][5]

Twenty watt-hours is about 27 minutes of camp fridge. It is not a reason to reject the unit, but it is the cost of the things it does better.

Recharge — the reason to buy it

54 minutes, measured, from empty to full.[3] That is the fastest of any 1 kWh unit here and comfortably inside EcoFlow's own 56-minute claim — a manufacturer claim that measurement actually beat, which is worth noting in a category where the opposite is more common.[1]

For a unit that lives in a garage and gets topped up between weekends, an hour on the wall changes how you use it. The Bluetti Elite 100 V2, with the same measured capacity, takes two hours.[5]

Solar is more ordinary: a 500 W ceiling, half the Bluetti's.[1][6]

Expandability — the other reason

The Delta 3 is the only 1 kWh unit on this site that grows. An additional battery takes it to 5 kWh, and it accepts several of EcoFlow's expansion packs.[1]

That is a genuinely different proposition from its rivals. The Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 has no expansion path at all — Anker's own FAQ sends expansion-minded buyers back to the previous generation.[7] The Bluetti Elite 100 V2 has none either.[8]

If you are confident 1 kWh is enough forever, the Anker is the better buy — more measured capacity, more output, $200 cheaper. If you suspect you will want more in two years, the Delta 3 is the only one of the four that lets you have it without selling the unit.

Build and ports

LiFePO4 rated for 4,000 cycles to 80%, five-year warranty (three standard plus two on registering in the app).[1]

Thirteen ports — six AC, two USB-A, two 100 W USB-C, a car socket and two DC5521.[1] That is the most generous port count in the class.

The UPS switchover is specified at under 10 ms, which is fast enough for a desktop PC or a router.[1] We have not found an independent measurement of the plain Delta 3's switchover, though StorageReview measured the closely related Delta 3 Plus at just over 8 ms with a mains power analysis module — some evidence that EcoFlow's figure in this family is real.[9]

Measured weight 28.1 lb — the heaviest of the four 1 kWh units, against a claimed 27.6.[3][1]

Where it falls short

Least efficient of its class. 85% against 87% for two direct rivals at the same rating.[3]

Heaviest of its class. 28.1 lb measured, nearly four pounds more than the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2.[10]

Noise is a claim, not a measurement. EcoFlow specifies under 30 dB at 600 W and under 40 dB at 1,200 W.[1] No independent laboratory has verified either. Both figures are plausible and we have no reason to doubt them — but they are EcoFlow's numbers, not anyone else's.

The naming. Three concurrent 1,024 Wh products called Delta 3 is a genuine hazard when buying.

How fast does the EcoFlow Delta 3 actually charge?

54 minutes from empty to full, independently measured — the fastest 1 kWh unit on this site, and slightly quicker than EcoFlow's own 56-minute claim.[3]

What is the difference between the Delta 3, Delta 3 Classic and Delta 3 Plus?

All three are rated 1,024 Wh. The plain Delta 3 takes 500 W of solar and expands to 5 kWh. The Classic is cheaper, has six outlets rather than thirteen ports, and does not expand. The Plus takes 1,000 W of solar across two MPPT inputs.[1][2]

Is the Delta 3 or the Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 better?

The Anker scores higher — more measured usable capacity, 2,000 W output against 1,800 W, and about $200 cheaper. Buy the Delta 3 instead if you want to expand later, which the Anker cannot do at all.[4][7]

Can it run a fridge during a power cut?

A full-size fridge drawing 150 W at about 35% duty for roughly 16 hours 34 minutes, calculated from the measured 870 Wh. Its sub-10 ms switchover also means the fridge should not notice the transition.[1]

How many cycles will it last?

EcoFlow rates the pack at 4,000 cycles to 80% of original capacity, with a five-year warranty. At one full cycle a week that is over seventy years of weekend use; the warranty will expire long before the cells do.[1]

Buy it for the expansion, not the efficiency

The Delta 3 loses the straight fight on measured capacity and price, and wins on the two things a specification sheet undersells: it refills in under an hour, and it is the only 1 kWh unit here that can become a 5 kWh one.

If this is a fridge-and-lights box that will never need to be more than that, buy the Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 instead and keep the $200. If you are recharging from panels, buy the Bluetti Elite 100 V2 for its 1,000 W ceiling.

Buy the Delta 3 if you want the option to grow, or if a one-hour turnaround genuinely changes how you would use it. Those are good reasons. Raw efficiency is not one of them here.
