Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 vs EcoFlow Delta 3 — Which 1 kWh Unit Should You Buy?

One is the lightest 1 kWh unit with the most usable energy. The other refills in 54 minutes and can become a 5 kWh unit. They are not really competing for the same buyer.

On our rubric the EcoFlow Delta 3 scores higher — 8.1 to 7.8 — on a 54-minute recharge, more output, cycles rated to 80% rather than 70%, and the ability to expand to 5 kWh.[1][2] But the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 delivers more usable energy (910 Wh against 870) in a box nearly four pounds lighter, and costs $140 less.[3] If you carry it, buy the Jackery. If it mostly sits still, buy the EcoFlow.

The two measurements

Both were measured by OutdoorGearLab under the same method, so these numbers are directly comparable.[4]

Forty watt-hours is about 53 minutes of camp fridge. Real, but not decisive.

The percentages are identical — both returned 85% of their rating.[3][1] The Jackery gives you more energy only because its pack is rated larger to begin with, at 1,070 Wh against 1,024 Wh.

Weight — the Jackery's whole case

3.7 pounds separates them, measured.[3][1] That sounds trivial written down and is not trivial carried.

The compound effect is larger than the raw difference, because the Jackery also holds more:

Twenty percent more usable energy per pound of carry. If the unit moves — tailgate to pitch, garage to garden, car to trailhead — this is the number that decides it, and nothing in the EcoFlow's column compensates.

Recharge — the EcoFlow's whole case

54 minutes against 1 hour 35. Both independently measured, and the EcoFlow beat its own claim while the Jackery merely matched its.[1][3]

Forty-one minutes changes what a stop is worth. An hour on the wall gives you a full EcoFlow and two thirds of a Jackery.

For a unit that lives in a garage and gets topped up between weekends, or one you refill at a campground hookup, that is worth more than four pounds of carry weight you never experience.

Two things the spec sheets hide

Cycle retention

Both advertise 4,000 cycles. They do not mean the same thing.

EcoFlow rates its 4,000 cycles to 80% of original capacity. Jackery rates its to 70%.[2][5]

Applied to each unit's own rating, the Jackery's larger pack ends up holding less than the EcoFlow's smaller one. The advantage it starts with is reversed over the life of the battery — and the headline cycle figure gives no hint of that.

Expandability

The Delta 3 accepts an expansion battery to 5 kWh.[2] The Explorer 1000 v2 does not expand at all.[5]

If there is any chance your needs grow, this is a one-way door. The EcoFlow's extra $140 buys an option the Jackery cannot sell you at any price.

Warranty, quietly

Both advertise five years. Both have a condition.

EcoFlow's is three years as standard plus two more for registering the product in its app.[2] Jackery's is three years as standard plus two more only if you buy direct from jackery.com — buy the Explorer 1000 v2 on Amazon and you have three years.[5]

Which to buy

Buy the Jackery if

  • Every pound of payload matters, as in a van
  • You want the most usable energy under $600
  • $140 is a meaningful difference
  • You recharge from a wall socket, not panels

Is the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 or the EcoFlow Delta 3 better?

The EcoFlow scores higher overall — 8.1 to 7.8 — on recharge speed, output, cycle retention and expandability. The Jackery delivers more usable energy in a lighter box for less money. Buy the Jackery if you carry it; the EcoFlow if you do not.

Which has more real capacity?

The Jackery, at 910 measured usable watt-hours against 870 — about 53 minutes more camp fridge.[3][1] Both convert the same 85% of their rating; the Jackery simply starts from a larger one.

Which charges faster?

The EcoFlow Delta 3, comfortably: 54 minutes measured against 1 hour 35.[1][3]

Do they both last 4,000 cycles?

Both claim 4,000, but to different capacities. EcoFlow's is to 80% of original capacity, Jackery's to 70%.[2][5] After 4,000 cycles the EcoFlow should hold about 819 Wh and the Jackery about 749 Wh — reversing the capacity advantage the Jackery starts with.

Can either be expanded?

Only the EcoFlow, to 5 kWh with an additional battery.[2] The Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 has no expansion path.

It comes down to whether you carry it

These two are close enough that the rubric's verdict — EcoFlow 8.1, Jackery 7.8 — should not decide it for you.

Carry it, and the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 is the right unit: 20% more usable energy per pound, 40 watt-hours more in total, and $140 cheaper. Nothing on the EcoFlow's side of the table compensates for weight you actually feel.

Leave it in one place, and the EcoFlow Delta 3 is clearly better: full in 54 minutes rather than 95, more output, a stronger cycle promise, and the only expansion path of the two.

The tiebreaker, if you need one: the cycle retention. Four thousand cycles to 80% is a materially better battery than four thousand cycles to 70%, and neither box tells you that.
