Terms of use

Plain terms for a site that publishes other people's measurements and its own arithmetic. The section on accuracy is the one that actually matters.

Using this site

Solar Power Auditor is published for general information. You may read it, link to it, and quote it with attribution. You may not republish substantial portions of it as your own work, or scrape it to generate derivative product content.

Accuracy — read this one

This is the section that matters, so we will be direct about it.

Most of the measurements on this site were not taken by us. They are figures published by third-party laboratories and publications, which we have collected, attributed and compared. We check them against the source at the time of writing. We cannot guarantee that they are correct, that the source has not since revised them, or that the unit you buy will behave like the unit that was tested.

Runtimes and costs per watt-hour on this site are calculated, not observed. They come from applying fixed, published assumptions to a measured capacity figure. Real-world results will differ with temperature, load profile, cable losses, battery age and the specific unit. The assumptions are listed at how we rate so you can check whether they resemble your situation.

Specifications change without notice. Manufacturers revise products under the same name, and the figures here reflect what was published on the date shown at the top of the page. Verify anything you are relying on against the manufacturer's current specification before you buy.

Prices are list prices on the date stated. They are not offers, they are not what you will pay, and we do not track them.

Electrical safety

⚠ This
Nothing here is professional electrical, engineering or safety advice. Connecting a battery system to a home's wiring, installing a transfer switch, or backfeeding a circuit is regulated work in most US jurisdictions and in many cases must be done by a licensed electrician and inspected. Doing it wrong can kill you, kill a utility worker, burn down your house, or void your insurance. Guides on this site that discuss home backup describe how the equipment is specified. They are not installation instructions and must not be used as such. Consult a licensed electrician and your local code authority.

Similarly: lithium battery systems store a great deal of energy. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on charging temperature, ventilation, water ingress and load limits. Do not exceed a unit's rated output because a guide here suggested a load profile.

No warranty

This site is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of content. We are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published here — including any purchasing decision.

We link to manufacturers, to the laboratories we cite, and to Amazon product listings. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content, and linking to them is not an endorsement of anything beyond the specific fact we cited them for.

Product buttons

Buttons labelled with a product name link to Amazon. We are not in any affiliate programme and earn nothing from them — see how we are funded. Where we could not confirm the exact listing for a product, the button goes to an Amazon search instead of a specific listing, deliberately.

Trade marks

EcoFlow, Jackery, Bluetti, Anker, SOLIX and all other product and brand names are the trade marks of their respective owners. We use them for identification and comparison only. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer it covers.

Corrections and complaints

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the correction on the page. If you are a manufacturer who believes we have misrepresented a product, write to us with the specific figure and the correct source, and we will publish the correction.
